It took Bernie never winning enough Democratic voters to win the Democratic nomination. People who say “the DNC was against Bernie” do not understand what the party can and cannot do. Years ago, they just would have told Bernie he couldn’t even run for our nomination since he wasn’t a member.

He was never a Democrat and never significantly helped and Democrats then ran for then nomination and lost twice never realizing it is because he’s not a Democrat and never helped Democratic candidates.

I will only be angry at Biden if he hadn’t planned for this eventuality which any normal person his age should have done. I’m not saying he should quit. I’m not saying he shouldn’t. But I would have had a plan.

When we would say conservatives who could no longer carry a majority would turn to fascism, we were called hyperbolic. That is what is happening. That’s the entire project they’ve undertaken since 2020 and the Times thinks it’s more important if Biden takes afternoon naps (which I do when I can!).

Today’s “luxury” is much more a measure of size than taste. Tastes change. I would understand anyone desiring a modern look compared to late stage Victorian, which is grotesque to me. Or the reverse choice! As for “for-profit” home building, it isn’t getting built any other way.

I don’t think the democracy v autocracy debate works. It’s actually plutocracy versus people. A reform message is what is needed. Get the money out, don’t let the big companies cheat us, create jobs, increase wages, deliver housing and health. Democratic Populism.

She was anointed by the king because she played along, which was a comfort not afforded a VP of eight years. The original sin was Obama’s acquiescence to her candidacy. But we don’t get to blame him despite Obama at best going down in history as a Democratic Eisenhower (don’t say that out loud).

You’re absolutely correct. It was a blind spot in 2016. The vast majority of us supported Obama in 2008 because we just didn’t want the whole Clinton circus returning to town. When she took SecState and became a team player, we softened toward her. We ignored our instincts.

Rightly or not, there is no politician in America other than Mitch McConnell who is so broadly unpopular as Hillary. That said, she has terrible political instincts, surrounds herself with terrible people, and can’t seem to avoid stepping on every available rake. That I can fairly judge.

ACA was a market approach to health insurance with a substantial, subsidy based on ability to pay. Was the market approach generally something conservatives proposed as an alternative to national health insurance more than 20 years ago? Yes. Did Republicans support it in 2009-10? No. But it works.
