of a typical meeting or shopping excursion. Following incubation of the masks for 1 h, we eluted them and detected infectious virus on polyester, cotton knit, cotton poplin, and nylon/spandex masks but not on an N95 respirator and surgical mask.

So it sounds like my policy of showering & washing my clothes (made of many of those fabrics) after a doctor’s appointment or plane flight is not overkill? (I wear a flomask in public always.)

Surgical masks are appalling for fit, but it's nice to hear that at least they're not carrying the virus on their surfaces, I suppose.
