Well thank god we have someone preventing government waste by being paid to insist that restaurants employ people full time to just wrap silverware do the VEs get paid for this? I mean I think I know the answer but

Yes, their contract earnings are all public record. I occasionally idly consider becoming a VE, considering how much they get paid and how incredibly lazy they get to be doing it.
