Just a dude who loves being a dad and who chills out with horror movies and TTRPGs. Currently stuck in the middle of the country and pining for the northeast.
Yes! My daughter has been watching Gravity Falls on loop for the past 6 months, and something like this would maybe convince her to try something new.

Great flick, fun characters. I never did get around to watching the sequel, though I'm sure I have it on bluray somewhere.

The combination of a cold, briny sea and dead wet leaves on the wind. Now that I live 1400 miles from the New England coast, I could spend hours on an October night in Salem just enjoying that smell when I visit.

Very cool.
I found a small stack of CDs that I'd burned between 16-18 years ago, and have been listening to them in my car the past few weeks. Her song "Down by the Water" was on 3-4 of the discs, along with a lot of other songs that were pretty downbeat. Must've been a rough year for me.

I really need to sit down and do a complete rewatch of that series. It was far ahead, in terms of storytelling, than most TV.

I agree; I would have liked to see some more build-up around the big bad, but there were so many characters. Still, it was a movie that we all enjoyed as a family, so I can complain too much.

Then how about K.D Lang's version of Hallelujah, which was considered the best version by Leonard Cohen.

I'm a 48 y.o dad and horror-kid, who also worked with emotionally disturbed kids for 15 years; so Jade Daniels is like scientifically engineered to be a character I invest my hopes in.

I just finished "My Heart is a Chainsaw" a few days ago, and immediately jumped online, hoping there would be a follow-up. Imagine my joy when I saw there were already 2 in print.

When I first met my now wife, she told me Hudson Hawk was one of her favorite movies. That's when I knew she was silly enough to maybe spend the rest of my life with her.

Perhaps you misunderstood?
They do not want you to buy him A piranha, as they are a social species that group into schools. You need to get him a dozen piranha, so that they can thrive in a setting with others of their kind.

Not too long ago, my mother-in-law tossed out 2 ice cube trays of my sofrito because she had no clue what it was.
So, thank you for posting and reminding me that I do need to make more.

That... was one hell of a ride.
As someone who worked with traumatized kids for 15 years, and as someone who has seen all but maybe 3-5 of the movies referenced in the book, Jade's voice was as clear as could be from page 1. I loved this book, and can't wait to share it with others.
Thank you.

@sgj.bsky.social I started reading My Heart is a Chainsaw a little earlier tonight, but didn't know if I would dig it or not until I read Kane Hodder's name used as a verb on page 37. Now I know I want to take my time and really enjoy the hell out of this one.

My brother was very much all about this behavior as a little kid, which led to my parents creating a policy of the non-birthday brother also getting a single gift to distract them on their siblings' special day.

I'd throw Citizen-X in that list as well. He's a supporting character, but has a hell of an impact on a film with an already stellar cast.

Being a horror kid all my life, the Donald Sutherland film I've seen most often was Invasion of the Body Snatchers. But my favorite film of his, hands down, was Citizen-X.
