I'm definitely not intending to do that. I'm just worried that, as with Trump, we fixate on side issues instead of clearer evidence that he's awful. In articles about the flag story, it would be preferable to connect the facts to other indicia of Alito's radical views.

Yes, but dissecting his awful opinions takes time, expertise, and audience attention that may not be readily available. "Alito flies the coup flag" gets us to the same place in 5 words. We should do the deep dives and the long explanations, but don't discount the effectiveness of simple messages.

I couldn't disagree more. This story gives the cause (Alito and Thomas are insurrectionists) to the effect (their votes, and holdings, are solely political). The opinions alone get lost in the thin veneer of jurisprudential differences, whereas this tells the whole truth (a lawless, listless Court).
