… Step 5: wait 6 months to 2 years for interview abroad. Step 6: go to interview with no guarantee of approval. Pray you can come home. That is absurd and shameful. Anyone married to a U.S. citizen should be able to adjust status automatically and I don’t see why anyone should be against that.

I think literally checking the paper work takes a huge amount of time with the backlog. My understanding is that this is the main issue.
