Also I had a dog who died because a neighbor's firecracker scared her, so she ran away and got hit by a car. I've been against firecrackers in residential neighborhoods ever since.

My neighbors used to set off industrial fireworks. One year I went out (didn't drive myself) and when I got back, my car was buried in firework ashes. I had to wash it at least five times. Neighbors saw me cleaning for hours and never said a word.
