I have no intention of ever purchasing a Playstation, so why should I need a PSN account to play a PC game? I've a feeling Sony just nuked one of their hottest games from orbit, all for the sake of boosting their own network numbers.

If this was a Microsoft thing and MS was like "you need an XBox account", I'd feel less weirded out, because Microsoft has positioned "XBox" as both a desktop and console gaming thing (see: Gamepass) Sony doing it when "PSN" is meaningless for desktop gaming? Boo.
