The sole source is a single somewhat dodgy podcast that never actually quotes Gaimain, (lots of "Tortoise Media understands his position to be"). The two sides of this discussion are basically "string him up" or "we'd like a some verification".

You know, this kind of contradicts your own post, right? But yes, this is one way to get additional verification, which is all Ursula has asked for. Trying to confirm the facts of a story before spreading it is not defending anyone.

Do you understand the difference between "This is false", and "I would like a second source to confirm this?" I can find a half dozen articles on this at this point, but they all link back to a single podcast. Neither the allegations, nor Gaiman's response appear to be published anywhere else.

That quickly runs up against the problem that the VPs schedule is tracked pretty closely, and if a meeting did happen, it was at the “handshake in public” level. Actually stating the accusation makes it too easy to refute.

Yeah, if there were any supporting evidence. Even if the emails are genuine, you really have to want them to be referring to Joe for him to be the obvious choice in context.

There is zero evidence that Joe knew about any such scheme, if it existed. And every witness the Republican led house committee has called have said he didn’t. So, yeah, lots and lots of nothing.

There’s still no clear chain of custody for the laptop. Giuliani apparently had a copy of the data before the FBI did, and it was found shortly after released emails from Macron (maybe, I don’t remember) were positively found to have been doctored.

So, once you get past the *gasp* sex and drugs, the primary claim was that Hunter was selling access to Joe while the latter was VP. And that Joe was getting a cut. The entire basis for this is a couple of e-mails referring to some money going to “the big guy”.

1/100k, which is ~what the brits have seems like a good number to me. Call it about 3300 reps. It's not like they all need to be physically in one place, and as long as you randomized speaking order, I think they'd eventually realize it's all been said before it gets to them.

Call it one per 100k people? I don't have a problem with this. Representatives should actually be able to meet with a significant fraction of their constituency.

Remember. If we had actual popular votes, this would not be a contest, and the Overton window would be screaming to the left. The combination of the electoral college, gerrymandering, and the resulting voter suppression from gerrymandering are the reason things are as scary as they are.

For reference, every state with a Dem trifecta treats sexual orientation as a protected class. All but one have protections for gender affirming care. All permit abortion. No, Dems are not perfect, but they're far better than the alternative.

There's a funny little thing. If the purpose of your side is to preserve the rules, and the purpose of the other side is to destroy them, failing to play by the rules means they win either way. There is no good solution here, but give Dems a trifecta, and see what improves.

You have noticed I'm agreeing with you on that, right? I'm just pointing out that your choice is between the one who's done that, but has at least spoken out against it, and the one who's committed to doing that and has spoken out in favor of it. Take your pick.

He has, repeatedly, called for a ceasefire. Given that Trump has not, and there's not a lot of difference between them on the subject otherwise, not sure what other differentiator you want there?

And yes, you can tell me it's a shitty choice. I get that. I agree. But its the one we have. And if you take the ceasefire one, you'll get a chance to vote for a better choice next primary season. If you take the other, I'm not counting on it.

Yup. Your actual choice is him, or the one who has actually said that the IDF should "finish the job" in Gaza. Those are your choices, so do you want the one who is calling for a ceasefire but practices realpolitik, or do you want the one calling for genocide?

Straight up: Disclose the tax forms (and any other available financial information) of EVERY elected or appointed official at the fed level. It's not biased. It's clearly in the country's best interest. The records are retained by the IRS, so anything to do with them is an act of the executive.

In theory, impeachment. And the theory that people who would have to carry it out would refuse "illegal orders". But in general, the founding fathers put an awful lot of weight on the assumption that those elected or appointed to high offices would be "gentlemen" in the conduct sense of the word.

Every state where Democrats have complete control, there are laws protecting sexual orientation. In all but one, there are laws protecting access to gender affirming care. etc. Give dems an absolute majority, and see what happens.

A) Life expectancy at the time, ignoring infant mortality was ~63. Average age of appointment is 53. It was limited. Also, to be perfectly honest, the framers left a lot to assuming "good and gentlemanly" behavior, and felt impeachment was an adequate check.

There are now 12 federal circuits. 12 justices makes sense (either make the Chief Justice not tied to a circuit to get it up to 13, or pick a set of 9 who sit on a given case, whichever). It's set by law, so you do need a trifecta or cooperation to change it. (Until the court rules otherwise)
