I disagree. Ethical judges -- those who take their oaths seriously & put in the work to conduct themselves properly -- will have very little patience for the ones who don't. Unethical judges will either clean up their act or get fired ... if not on the 1st complaint, then the 2nd or 3rd.

I mean , it works great when the police do it, right? The good ones who take the job seriously don't have any patience for the ones who don't? Unethical cops either clean up their act or get fired?

You are empirically wrong. The self-policing judiciary would issue a report based only on talking to the judge in question; if one of his law clerks called the judge who issued the report with some questions, they would tell her that they could not even hear what she had to say.

Even if one were to assume that relying on the good ethics of political figures were a good way to prevent corruption (lol), do you seriously think that could work in the United goddamn States. Have you SEEN the people who run your country.

The problem with your proposed system is that it is founded on assuming the best of people. That assumption is what got us in the current mess that is the United States government.

"get fired"? Do you mean removed by impeachment? Alito and Thomas' colleagues seem to have a lot of patience.
