I think too the fact that on the early 90’s we were on about the whole “save the earth” “save the rainforest” awareness and it fell perfectly in with that Maybe one day it’ll come back again cause man would be nice

Yup! The 90s still offered hope and positivity on the subject to encourage people to do things. “Look at how we’re saving <species>!” or “our school’s raising funds to purchase X acres of rainforest to protect them!” 21st century just offers a mix of pessimism, scare tactics, and guilt tripping
