As far as number of warheads, a couple hundred has generally been considered adequate as deterrent - China had that many for decades, before building up to 400 or so

I dunno I guess in the end no-one's nuking anyone any time soon. I'm more worried about economic warfare, cyber nonsense and the undermining of political processes. I just hope the establishment here has some pride.
