Birthdays & holidays: my late brother’s birthday was in early December, and as a kid he hated any kind of combining his birthday with Christmas. Flip side is my birthday is next week. Combining it with July 4th was never an issue or cause for complaint. 😁

The campaign is being run the same way the first year of his term was - sluggish, stubborn, acting like it’s 1973 communication-wise. I hated it then & I hate it now.

I felt Biden had to fire someone by Monday, show some tightening & straightening out in the campaign. If he stubbornly stays loyal to people with bad advice - or people with good advice he won’t listen to - he’s dead in November.

I felt if someone wasn’t fired by Monday to signal some kind of realignment then Biden was in trouble. Either someone badly advised him or he ignored good advice, neither of which is comforting. I no longer buy the cold excuse … so I wait I guess.

Seems to me Biden’s first response tends to be deference to norms (see 2021, Senate) and same here - he assails the decision not the process. This campaign can’t bunt single its way to victory.

There’s another wave of storms moving up into ABQ now, though they don’t look quite as severe. On the westside picked up just over 2” - all after 6pm. And … <checks clock> … might get more. Could be the most I’ve ever officially measured. Have a safe flight though.

My issue isn’t as much with CNN not live fact checking as the Biden camp failing to pound the point home. Agreeing to it doesn’t mean they couldn’t say all weekend “Trump will lie & lie & lie - and we won’t respond to every one”. (Of course, see ‘cold’, ‘announce after debate’.)

Sure he can - he can appoint anyone as VP as long as Congress agrees. And he’ll have both houses if he wins. He can repeat this as many times as he wishes, and play VP Apprentice over & over. If there’s no VP - & there’s no requirement to have one - the Senate Pro Tem takes the position. 🤷‍♂️
