No, I guess I should have made it clear that it is an invasive species in South Africa. Moreover, the species we have here is poisonous to livestock. I'm not sure if this is the case in Texas,

Yes, both the Texas species and the invasive common lantana are poisonous to pets, humans, and livestock if ingested. MANY people have the common as landscaping plants and they escape and do well in disturbed natural areas. The Texas species is native…but still poisonous, so caution is necessary.
