Exactly. If there has been a rise in antisemitism worldwide, Israel's gleeful killing and destruction in Gaza is the main driver. And if Israel's continued existence ultimately becomes untenable, it will be because of Netanyahu's unremitting bloodlust.

That assumes that Israel can continue as a viable entity given their obvious contempt for the broader world and the fact that they cannot survive on their own. Biden is in a cleft stick given the control AIPAC currently has over Washington, even if that may have weakened following the protests.

I think that this is something Zionists fail to understand. It isn't hatred that drives the protests, but anger. If antisemitism is on the increase, then they are largely culpable. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I knew that it was being done to protect me.

For a long time, the courts in America have been less about justice and more about political affiliation. Every judgement is appended by which Administration appointed the judge and this is implicit acceptance of political fealty and gives a free hand to ignore justice when delivering judgements.

I think it's important to recognise that, of the 20 nominees with their hat in the ring in 2020, Biden was never the best choice, but the most likely to appeal to Middle America. We shouldn't be surprised that he is too cautious or 'middle-of-the-road'.

Cruising on the Mfolozi River in South Africa yesterday and, as we are passing a breeding pod of hippos which had apparently killed four fishermen after they had attacked their boat, our skipper tells us that the hippo in the estuary produce 35 tons of hippo poo a day. Which is consumed by prawns.

That would have been sensible. Unfortunately, Netanyahu cracked the whip and the authorities sprang into action. The fiction of universal support of Israel is vital if Israel is to maintain control of the political space in Washington, and the latter is crucial to the survival of Israel.

Free speech and the right of protest is one thing, but criticism of Israel cannot be tolerated, because it threatens to dismantle the fiction of universal support for Israel. Netanyahu has chosen war, but Israel cannot fight alone. This is a fight to the death that Israel cannot afford to lose.

That Hamas are deeply reprehensible for their October acts is not in dispute. It is incomprehensible that anyone can view the myriad of videos showing dead and dying children and the unmitigated joy of their killers and feel that this is self-defence. It's not. It's genocide.

It is absolutely imperative for Israel that any opposition to what they are doing in Gaza is not seen as genuine, but rather as a campaign by dark forces. Otherwise, if the perception of unshakable support for Israel is challenged, then the political support may be weakened.

It seems to me to be perfectly logical that Jews who support Israel as a Jewish homeland should be horrified at what Netanyahu is doing in their name. His wanton destruction of Gaza and slaughter of the inhabitants won't defeat Hamas and only makes the world less safe for Israel and Jews worldwide.
