Cruising on the Mfolozi River in South Africa yesterday and, as we are passing a breeding pod of hippos which had apparently killed four fishermen after they had attacked their boat, our skipper tells us that the hippo in the estuary produce 35 tons of hippo poo a day. Which is consumed by prawns.
