RIP Samuel Beckett you would have loved the fact that I had tickets to see WAITING FOR GODOT in April then I couldn’t go to see it so I booked a ticket for July and went out to see it again only to find out that I got the dates wrong and I missed the show by a week

finding out that I have an innate ability to wander into restaurants that are a lot more expensive than I would anticipate but by the time I’ve sat down I will not be able to bring myself to make the mental decision of “no this is too pricey for me”

I admit to not liking Mignola as much as a lot of people I know (I enjoy him, just not bowled over by the stuff) but it is endlessly funny to me when he is paid to do covers and it all just looks like this. like “sure whatever I don’t even care here’s some Stuff”

Doug Wildey’s RIO saga is some of the most aesthetically-conservative/conformist comics you’re likely to find, but I’ll be goddamned if it isn’t the most gorgeous western in comics.

Yamada Murasaki's TALK TO MY BACK is a stunning work of comics. Yamada's artwork has a gorgeously tentative edge to it, a deceptive sketch-like quality that serves as a beautiful contrast to the striking, beautifully-articulated interiority and frustration of the story. I adored it.

I adored Yamada Murasaki’s TALK TO MY BACK, and the new release SECOND HAND LOVE (tr. Ryan Holmberg, from Drawn and Quarterly) is no different — the casualness of Yamada’s art belies a razor-sharp articulation of love and hunger. Full review coming soon…
