"The critique about needing to use the screen for everything isn't well developed in the article." Agreed. (Based solely on how flakey the music screen is in my Toyota, the idea of using a screen for everything chills me to the bone.)

"I got attention. So much attention. Children stopped and pointed. Strangers gave me the finger. A motorist pulled up alongside me and said, “I just had to stop to laugh at you.” "No buttons. No switches. I felt like I was driving around in an unfurnished apartment."

One thing that distinguishes Lawrence O'Donnell from his peers is his commitment to providing context, IMO.

To be fair, these people didn't have streaming. Cycling through these paintings was as close as one got to a cinematic experience in the 15th and 16th centuries.

I like Pissarro. A couple of years ago, I wrote about one of his paintings that few people have seen or discussed. The picture is a rich bit of storytelling....

I look at it this way: • A vote for Trump is a vote for Stephen Miller, Michael Flynn, and Vladimir Putin • A vote for Biden is a vote for Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and Hakeem Jeffries Easy choice, really.

Agreed. The Musée d'Orsay is a lovely building, perfectly sited....just a great place to be. Any chance you'll be in Washington DC between Sept 8th and Jan 19th? The show will be at the National Gallery of Art, also a lovely place to be.

TGIF, everyone
For just one more week "Paris 1874: The Impressionist Moment" is at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. A remarkable exhibition, it celebrates the (difficult) birth of French Impressionism 150 years ago.
If you're nowhere near Paris, this feature article gives you a taste:

Stuart Davis (one of the most innovative modern artists of his generation) was inspired by jazz.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra was inspired by a Stuart Davis painting.
Enjoy and compare the painting and the song: “The Mellow Pad”

"The president’s staff clearly over-prepared their candidate, stuffing his head with factoids that are completely irrelevant in a debate with a deranged bully." (Tom Nichols wrote this in The Atlantic. He might be right, but will anyone on Biden's team admit to it?)

Tonight, Joe Biden was the same Joe Biden we've seen all year. His voice is always raspy and he always walks funny. If elite Dems are "freaking out" by these optics, it's fair to ask where they've been all year. No TVs on their yachts?

Hi Scott. What strikes me as truly unusual about the Fortune 100 chart is that large companies and their CEOs normally donate to both parties, either to hedge their bets or to appear neutral (read: uncontroversial). This year, not a single Fortune 100 CEO has donated to Trump.

Good morning. I just realized a labyrinth is not a maze. A maze confounds us with dead ends and the threat of getting lost. A labyrinth has just one, stress-free path which leads us to the center. I’m told it's a good way to meditate if you (like me) are no good at "sitting meditation."
