Young people are up to 5% more likely to vote if their favorite party has a main candidate under 40 than over 70. And that's only been the case since the mid 00's!

Main findings of my paper now accepted at EJPR based on CSES data.

How do voters react to different women's representation trajectories, and what does this tell us about progressive mobilization and backlash dynamics?

I tackle this question in a paper that was part of my PhD and is now out in CPS:

Since their rollout, I have made heavy use of the custom GPT tools in ChatGPT. Here is a thread of some of the tools that I use regularly (all of them require ChatGPT 4). I think they are most useful for people doing quantitative social science, but some are more general.

If nothing else (good), the Dutch elections seem to give a nice example for teaching stats: do I get it right that PVV was the strongest party among young people while at the same time their district-level vote share correlates with the share of 65+ population?

Populist politicians are successful because voters agree with their policy positions, not because of their populist rhetoric, even when voters hold populist attitudes, finds Dai & Kustov.

Random methods grumpiness: the solution to not really knowing which model specification to use is not to run every one you can think of and then plot all the effect estimates. If you want to marginalise out specification uncertainty, go be a proper Bayesian and stop banging on about multiverses.
