This approach allows for rapid assessments of open-ended survey responses: – Data collection completed yesterday at 10am – Prompts developed and validated by 1pm – Classification of all responses, aggregation, and analysis by 4pm 3/3

We first took a random sample of 100 responses to identify reasons, develop categories, and write prompts. We then used the OpenAI API and some R code to classify each response. The faster and cheaper GPT-3.5 model performed more reliably on these short texts than GPT-4. 2/3
