Still thinking I didn't land the HB designer position since I haven't heard back, and that's okay. I'm happy that that sparked me to finally get started on this. It reminded me of the joys of learning and practicing a direction of art I seemed to underestimate how much I still desired to embark on.

Aaand static sheet of foxlet turnaround since gifs still aren't a thing here yet! It's a really happy feeling to put days of effort into this sort of thing, not look at it intensely for a couple of weeks, then still be able to look back occasionally and feel *good* about it still. I'm still proud.

I have about 2 weeks to get this done, but frankly if this takes too much longer, I’m half contemplating physically going to the airport myself to update that. At least then I could physically see how much my wait time *should* actually be. If chat’s this bad rn, I don’t wanna be in phone hold hell

And this is already after I tried to start a different chat on my PC as well, which said I’d have a 40 minute wait, and it had been over and hour and a half. And of course when I needed to step away and came back, someone responded at some point, and I’m left waiting there AGAIN

The one benefit to heading out into the city early-to-mid afternoonish during Thanksgiving is that barely anyone is in none-food related stores and you feel like you have the whole store to yourself But then it’s a curse when it’s past 6, you gotta get home, and need to pass through Times Square 🙃

I'm going to finally embrace the power of making foods 1-2 days ahead of time for when it would especially benefit vs just acknowledging that that's cool/convenient and then process to try to make everything in one day this time. The grocery trip tomorrow (today) is gonna be quite the task, tho ^^;

I… I may or may not actually be submitting the application for HB character designer within the next day or so. Waiting for some things first just to feel especially certain, but honestly, the portfolio IS finished. And with a few days to spare. I actually managed to start and complete it.. wow ;;

Finally getting around to adding legible sketch lines to this page of pugs! Once this is finished up, this’ll make the sixth thing done for the portfolio! I’m aiming for at least eight overall, and the last two are already sketched out. Given I have until the 20th, not bad I’d say :)

I definitely wouldn’t mind that, only if you’d be absolutely certain you wouldn’t want to use it yourself sometime. ;; SP’s ironically that arm-and-a-leg program I was talking about, even though it feels like it’d be nice to give a try after messing with the interface in trial runs.

I worry I’ll come across as some rando seemingly “demanding” instruction/direction/whatever. Even though that is kind of silly..? But especially with the professional art world, as with numerous other professions, getting better is helped with receiving advice from like minded peers… aaagh >_<

In this case, it’s literally asking people (and specifically those who happen to already be peers/mutuals/acquaintances already) for potential advice on things. I think the nerves especially come from me trying to approach unprompted (like, out of the blue asking), and I worry on bothering them.

I’m realizing that there are some probably irrational fears/anxieties I have over the mere thought of trying to do things that are otherwise harmless and would genuinely be of assistance to me (and even with knowing that others going for what I’m striving for literally have done the same).

Storyboarding is still the utmost ideal desire to me, but until I can maybe get ahold of a program that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and also doesn't feel so complicated/cluttered in layout to then also try to find time to dabble in, it doesn't hurt to find a path to start in somewhere.

I'm hoping that I do actually finish and at least submit an application so that I can at least say that I have done it. If nothing else, at least I'm finally building an actually more current portfolio for myself. And maybe this is an alternate path I can attempt in the meantime.

Saying it "somewhat" more publicly here to help kick my butt into gear and put more of a gentle push on my shoulders: may or may not try to create a portfolio of sorts to apply for a possible HB character design position. I've got two weeks. Maybe slightly shot notice, but I feel okay about it.

please learn how to not be a workaholic while you can, kids, I beg of you (it's not a painful "pull", so much as just an uncomfortable "tug" around my pinkie/ring finger area when my wrist is tilted to better draw on my monitor, since it's only angled down about 30 degrees from a typical monitor)
