I make Lore (podcast, TV show, & books), Cabinet of Curiosities (podcast, forthcoming book), Bridgewater (podcast), and executive produce more shows over at GrimAndMild.com
Today is a new day. It will bring new challenges and new gifts. But it’s yours.
Take a deep breath and slow down. And please don’t forget that you are more loved and significant than you believe.

Subassembly. Zenithal primed. Mounted on swappable magnetic cork handles. And ready to paint.
Folks, weekend plans don’t get much better than this.

I’ve finally jumped on the Elgato Stream Deck and I’m so glad I did.
I don’t “stream” per se, but having the ability to launch specific folders I use dozens of times each day—with just one button—is sweet relief.
Anyway, I’m loving it.

It’s absolutely stunning how many accomplishments and milestones I’ve been able to check off my list over the past nine years and yet still feel like a has-been hack with no future.
The human brain is a hell of a trip, eh?

And did not know that. Political ads are turned off on Lore. What was the “product” or content of the ad? I’ll have it removed from the system. And thanks!

That’s not a thing. Owning the tv rights isn’t the same thing as owning all the tv show assets another company paid to produce during the time they had licensed the tv rights.

I suffer through the summer for days like today. Autumn is when I burst forth from my mid-year cocoon, clad in layers of flannel and denim and waxed cotton.
What's a girl gonna do? A diamond's gotta shine.

Being a writer with writer friends means having an awesome community of folks you love and respect who never text or call because they’re busy writing, leaving you feeling alone and unimportant. And they, in turn, feel the same way about you.
It’s the nature of the beast. And it sucks.

It’s October, the month in which I reach my final form: a 24/7 spooky story-telling lover of the macabre and bizarre, clad in shadows and flannel.

We have a family of five deer that basically just hang out in our yard at all hours of the day.
Most people leave their house and look around to see which neighbors are out mowing their lawn or grabbing the mail. But we have to carefully glance around for herds of wildlife. It’s amazing.

On Threads, I have thousands of followers, but very few who are good friends.
On Bluesky, I only have hundreds of followers, but lots are good friends.
I like both, for different reasons. I just need to get better at using two apps instead of one.

My teenage girls have reached that age where I can now do specific things to embarrass them in public.
Things like nodding my head to the music, or talking above a whisper, or whispering, or breathing.

What’s that? I’ve got a brand new indie podcast coming out next week? In *this* economy?
Well, that’s just weird!
(Seriously, go subscribe, and get ready for a delightful, fun addition to your commute. And it’s kid-friendly, too!)

I’ve got a brand new episode of Lore out today, and it gets dark and weird *very* quickly. It’s one of my favorite topics of the year so far…let me know what you think! #LorePodcast

I spent 10 hours at my desk today battling my todo list, communication app notifications, and email inbox in what I can only describe as that part of a John Wick movie where he’s writhing on the floor with a knife inching closer and closer to his temple, and yet I somehow didn’t die.

Yep. I feel like some critics believe they aren’t doing their job properly without tearing something to pieces.
This isn’t a high art piece; it’s a classic adventure ride designed to be fun. And it sure as hell nailed the brief.

Dial of Destiny was stunning. I loved every punchy minute of it. Don’t listen to cranky critics, they’re just buzzkills with no joy in their lives. Go see it in the theater and get ready to have fun.

On the upside, I think you’ve provided the first honey pot I’ve seen on this platform for finding and blocking asshole trolls. But admittedly, it’s a pretty tiny upside compared to the shit you’ve had to put up with. Sorry buddy 😞

Just last night I was regretting my decision to leave Twitter and stop giving Elmo Mush my time and energy.
And I still do, sort of. I regret abandoning a platform/tool that helped me reach new listeners and fans.
But I’ll never regret withholding my engagement from a rich entitled baby.

This.
I yelled at people at a concert last night because I bought tickets to The Cure, not a 90-minute personal conversation shouted over their live music.
When they got upset and asked me what my “problem” was, I had to remind them that they were.
Some people are just plain rude. Tell them.

It’s ok to admit you aren’t doing ok. It’s ok to not BE ok. And it’s ok to not know how to handle knowing, admitting, and sharing that.
Being not ok sucks. And that’s also ok.

I may or may not have utterly lost my shit tonight at a concert after the people next to me talked loudly over the music for 90 minutes while ignoring the show. I can’t remember ever shouting at a stranger like that before, but hot DAMN was I fed up with them.

Supporting libraries is low key a litmus test for the bare minimum of being a decent person. Libraries literally hurt no one and benefit some people immensely.
If you are against them I assume you are incapable of understanding that other people exist.

Libraries are more than just bookshelves in a building.
They are event spaces (mine just hosted a local ComicCon).
They offer trained, helpful librarians (essential to researchers & curious readers alike).
They give underprivileged folks safe access to computers+internet (job opportunities).

Releasing podcast episodes for 8+ years has done 2 things to me: (1) it's made me eager to share each new story, and (2) it's made me fearful every release day that I'll be yelled at by someone for doing something "wrong"
One thing feeds my creativity.
The other snuffs it out.
And that sucks.
