The irony that I posted this and then looked at my phone to find a text saying I saved $12 on my power bill by participating in “peak energy hours” aka I turned off my AC for 3 hours during the hottest days of a heatwave 🙃

I would bet good money that at least one Democratic California state legislator will feign populism by saying we can't mandate A/C for prisoners because a lot of renters don't have it, and prisoners shouldn't have a better lifestyle than renters. This is not the own that they think it will be.

I really hate that all the outdoor public pools are closed here right now. Wellington has some gorgeous looking public pools that are open right now but they're all indoor. This validates my decision to avoid the indoor ones. No news of others infected *yet* but it just takes one sick selfish jerk.

Indeed, LA county residents are not being represented adequately in the US Senate, or at the county board level. Also our state legislature has an incredibly low level of representation. Each California state senator represents more people that a US Congressional rep, which is just insane.

I, too, think a general strike is a fine idea. But HOW TO GET THERE is the problem. And I just never, ever hear an answer to that question. Just criticism of my choice to vote for the lesser of two evils, as that is what is in front of me.

It doesn't get easier. Mine are now 27 (the age I was when I had her) and 23. I worry about eldest's upcoming wedding to her trans fiance (whom I adore, they're a good dude) and the trials their marriage will doubtless face, and youngest's job prospects when she finally graduates (thanks long covid)

Verdict: Pretty tasty! The beef/lamb is a bit saltier than I like for a gyro or kebab, but still pretty good. And all the veggies make for a wonderful conflux of flavors. I may not order this specific dish again anytime soon, but I'll definitely give the restaurant another try!
