Savoie is a prospect & unproven. Might turn out to be nothing. But he’s got a legit chance of being a top 6 forward. That’s a prospect worth taking a chance on. Oilers lose a legit bottom 6 NHLer but clear cap room & get a prospect w/ high upside.

McLeod & Tullio for Savoie. I like McLeod quite a bit. He’s a really solid player. A bit shy on offense but that should bring his cap hit down. All he does is push the puck in a positive direction, which is a tough job for a 3C. Speed to burn. This is a good trade for EDM from my perspective.

Settings-> Personalization->Lock Screen-> uncheck the fun facts and change Lock Screen Status to remove the newly added Windows widgets. It seems the most recent Windows update added the widgets by default even ppl like me never asked for those apps added to the lock screen

The other big takeaway was that in those 9 games with Nurse before the trade deadline, the Oilers had 41 goals scored on them excluding OT and EN goals in 9 games. After Ceci moved to 3rd pair, Oilers have given up 17 GA. In 12 games

Did a with and w/o analysis strictly based on goals against and Ceci has been on the ice for 50% of Oilers GA for the past 21 games. Nurse was with Ceci for 9 games and had about 55% GA and after Ceci go put w Kulak, Nurse dropped to 25% GA last 12 games. On 3rd pairing, Ceci is still at 50% GA

It looks like they've settled into a bit of a rut in terms of how they want to attack. They keep trying to force the cross ice pass to Drai with McD/Nuge skating in from the point. They need to just shoot from the left point and crash the net to make the defenders respect that option.

The Oilers usually play power on power so unless Henrique is playing with McDavid or Drai, he won’t face that level of competition. If he plays on the 3rd line, I like his quality of linemates better than Anaheim. So he should be in a position to succeed.

Henrique, for what it’s worth, played against top comp for Anaheim with almost 40% of his 5x5 ice time against Elite competition. By comparison, Carrick played among the softest competition 5x5 and did poorly vs elites. (Via PuckIQ)

I will always cheer for Poolparty/Bison King as long as he plays. Just an amazing personality and talent who wasn't developed properly by the organization in Edmonton. Just like Ethan Bear, I believe he was unfairly maligned and he has the talent to be a regular NHLer.

#LetsGoOilers After McDavid made it 3-0, I said that the team never does enough to help Skinner keep the shutout. I then predicted that Skinner would need to make it to 31 saves to seal the shutout. Sadly, two minutes after, the team got scored on. Skinner ended with 29 saves on 30 shots :p

Looked into how the Oilers defence pairings have been deployed with the forwards since the coaching change. And how they've performed.

One finding: When Draisaitl is with Nurse & Ceci, the Oilers are posting an expected goal-share of 24%(!).

I’m just going to come right out and say it: the Oilers this year remind me of 2006. The team has solid underlying numbers but was sewered by terrible goalering. This version has immensely more talent, they just need someone who’ll only let in 2/3 goals per game.

Tried sending a Bluesky invite via DM over in the naughty place and it locked my account on account of "suspicious activity". I "back-arrowed" out of that and it was like I'd done did no wrong with a fully functional account... It's sad when they can't even program a robust working account block

Oilers lose again with neutral zone turnovers biting them again. Coach missed another opportunity to give them the best chance to win. Gagner should have been the extra attacker instead of Kane. Sam had the most jump out of anyone on the bench. Woodcroft making suboptimal decisions all year.

Another game: same result. Janmark career high of 34 points in a season. If they can load up Drai/McDavid, they can load up Drai with Hyman/Nuge. Ask other 3 lines to just defend. It's Woodcroft's error but a HUGE assist to Holland for building a MAX cap roster that's not even playoff calibre

I'm calling this an #Oilers coaching loss.

When you purposefully decide to put Janmark with Draisaitl, you're neutering one of the top offensive talents with an anchor.

Seeing Foegele having one of his best efforts of the season and not loading him up with Drai for every extra shift was a crime.
