me figuring currency conversions in each country so far america: add like 33% to it mexico: take off the last number, then reduce it by another 20% or so colombia: am i a millionaire now

I think that about covers it.  I am so grateful for all the kind words from people, and look forward to once again reporting on this fascinating city and province in a year from now. I will miss this place dearly. But I can’t wait for the journey to come.

I might do some TikToks, but I might not! I like sharing what I see and learn, but for the first time in 16 years I’m under no professional obligation to immediately do so. I’m excited and curious to see the ways I change or not during this trip, and that includes how much I’m online.

It's the B.C. municipality where things have been so dysfunctional, for so long, that some people are talking about whether it should continue to be a municipality.

But it touches on a lot of themes we've reported on the last 7 years — small town dysfunction, the effects of social media, the inability of people to disagree agreeably, and the joyous differences of local vs. regional government. I hope you'll listen, read, and watch.

Before I leave for a year, I have one final story coming out tomorrow. It's about a B.C. municipality that has been so dysfunctional for so long that the town is going to hold a meeting about whether it should remain a municipality. It's a very meta ending to my job.

Approximately 270 children in Vancouver about to enter Kindergarten are on wait-lists to get into 15 separate schools across the city. It happens year after year, and it won't be getting better for a while.
