The Gower Street Waterstones is always one of my first stops in London 📚
One of these days I hope to walk in and see my own book in this section 🥰

I think she would! She’s been learning about London since she was born 🥰 we’re hoping to bring her next summer for a few weeks, hopefully visiting Scotland too!

We're a week out from Oct so I'm obligated to post everyone's fav medieval bat. It's easy to see why this little guy has won my bat poll every year
BUT did you know this ms page also includes a practice-bat? The sketch is adorable, too 🦇

I am *really* excited to get back to London for the first time since Covid began and even *MORE* excited to get back to medieval manuscripts but man, leaving my heart at the security gate was tough. I’m not sure who cried more, me or the toddler

On 20 September 1486, in St Swithun's Priory, Winchester, Elizabeth of York gave birth to a child who, it was hoped, would herald the dawning of a new golden age of peace and prosperity for England. By his father Henry VII, the boy was christened Arthur.

I finally got to see this very old cat door 🐈⬛
According to Exeter Cathedral, the cat door was cut for the Bishop's cat to catch mice, between 1598 & 1621 🚪
Records show that a cat was paid 1d per week in food when on mouse/rat catching duties 🐀

I feel the same 😩😩😩 I love Twitter because of the people I’ve met there (you are at the top of that list!) but I don’t think I’d pay, solely because the money would go to him and I want his attempts at monetizing Twitter to fail 😂 petty, but the truth lol

That is very good to know! I do like threading, especially for research-related posts. Hopefully they can fix that here over time. I appreciate the heads up!

I feel the same! It really feels like Twitter circa 2012. I’ve tried a few of the other alternatives and didn’t like them too much. I’m actually excited about this one!!

Thanks for the tip! I’m still getting my bearings here, but I’m really liking it so far! And am very relieved to have found you and a few other people from the Other Site. I’d be so sad if we lost touch because of a paywall 😵💫

This petition is a way of showing support for our colleagues in medieval and early modern studies at Australian Catholic University, who are facing extreme cuts to their program as part of a clear (and wrong-headed) disinvestment in the Humanities by ACU administration. Please consider signing.

Like many of us, I’ve migrated here from The Other Place. I am VERY relieved to see that this is essentially The Other Place circa 2012. I was worried I’d have to learn a whole new social media site 😅 very happy that that is not the case!
