people always attribute the spike in autism/adhd diagnoses to more people learning about it But maybe the demands of capitalism skyrocketing over the last century made it harder for ND people to meet the definition of "functioning" & when your functioning is impaired, you get evaluated for shit

yeah I have possibly permanent but mild injuries in my shins, one knee, and one ankle from it, and usually pushing through the pain was recommended until when I was a senior, then they were like "maybe we shouldnt injure children" and started changing, a little late for me tho

some people work out so much they become convinced that only people who work out burn calories, I've literally been shamed and yelled at for eating lunch when I hadn't worked out that day, idk I know physical health is important in theory but my experience is theyre all asshole and id rather die 🤷♀️

Where i live is just like obsessively health conscious and everyone runs, bikes, walks, eats healthy, etc. but they usually just like to shame people for drinking soda or whatever

because toxic neurotypical people made health an insurmountable chore for me and even method of control, and so so so much of their advice was absolute bullshit and would change all the time. Also my medication makes me intolerant of heat/dehydration these days so maybe thats part of it

unpopular opinion. excercise just makes me miserable and tired and gives me more aches and pains. I spent a large portion of my life in very good physical health (was a track and cross country runner) but was also very depressed much of that time and the second I was on my own I stopped

I don’t remember who posted it, but a couple of years ago I saw an artist say that they have a “no post” sketchbook that stays offline since I started mine I’ve felt myself loosen up and stop thinking about the gaze of others while drawing- I think it’s good for everyone to try

yeah my family is too capitalism-poisoned, only things that matter to them are financial success and physical fitness, though they did allow me to do art as long as I also did sports and was good academically. I do get stubborn with the "accept me as I am" but its a privileged position unfortunately
