It's very effective. I haven't woken up screaming in years. I still have bad and weird dreams. But I don't feel terror. And it's easy to get prescribed because it's not a scheduled substance.

I have a friend who did a real bad who I'm currently just in a holding pattern with because my experience tells me they are a good person with a big heart. So if they do something contrary to that it is likely an outlier and not what shall forever define them. If I held grudges I'd have no friends.

It took 10 years before a doctor told me they have a pill for nightmares. I was there for benzos and she casually said "and this to stop nightmares." "... the fucking what. Full pause. What." I was so excited about that she had no issue with the benzo. Was clear I was suffering.

My mom's an antiques dealer. I grew up surrounded by these types of materials. So I have probably an inappropriately high tolerance for trading or existing materials. But yeah- tried a lot of novelty picks and grip picks. Nothing beats the dusty Dunlop. And rhey come in the prettiest colors!

Yeah I used to use smooth picks when I was young because my first pick was a fender turtle shell pattern one. When I got into really playing? Dunlop has been just consistent. Never drop thrm like I did the old fenders. And they don't wear down and lose attack and tone like soft plastic.

That's why (especially older) picks have a tortoise shell pattern. And why this pick brand is named that way. They used to make them out of real shells. Great for tone on old acoustic stringed instruments. Less important with electric guitars and especially with distortion.

I always assumed that was a byproduct of manufacturing. Since the pick has texturee to it (better for grip) the resude is trapped. Better than smooth picks for sure. Tho someday I hope to find a real antique pick when rhey were made from real tortoise. Banned to make. But you can trade existing.

While I'm almost always like: take their money *and* give them shit... Sometimes that money does more to divide. Like it's not a vanity donation or a "cover" to make people forget bad shit they did. Sometimes it's a lot more sinister and yeah- that can matter a LOT.

In my 20s this was a common problem. From truck stop wolverine claws, mall katanas, to an actual Glock the number of things turned on me by drunk "friends" is substantial. (I beat the shit out of thr guy who pointed a gun at me. Too far.)

You have an idealist vision here. One that's rooted in a sense that "all people are compassionate." and I hate to be a doomer but ... some people are not. I'm not saying "can't win, don't try" but I also know the nazis watched people die at the camps for 4 years and kept at it.

Like you have a LOT of hope and think that these people just need a little patience and time and god bless you for it. I've spent time with them, with them thinking i was one of them, and seen their hearts. I have no reason to think that pulling on the thread of empathy would do anything.

Why would meeting these people or seeing the reality change them though? I think the assumption is that they are simply not well informed and therefore hold wrong views. For slavers, seeing the suffering of slaves did not soften their hearts. I spend time with these people IRL and... gosh..

VP is a powerless position, even more so than the president (whose real power comes from being the head of the party and leading their platform, as well as judicial appointments). A Maga vp would not reform them and likely become an immediate outcast. Like the last speaker the maga sacked.
