Right wing populism is a funnel for grievance and paranoia, not a governing philosophy. Which is why their governments are ALWAYS a disaster-- riddled with incompetence and ruinous for their national economy. And they KNOW this, which is why their first priority is always abolishing elections.

I have written a one-shot actually about floating cities in international waters which, powered by refugee labor and ingenuity, become the means by which the human race survives climate change. It's going to be called "Polis" and will be published by AWA.

What we probably need, as a counterweight to global fascism, is league of cities. A shadow government of international cities with aligned interests to assist each other in dealing with climate change, welcoming refugees & preserving the basic freedoms nationalist governments threaten to destroy.

I can’t watch anymore. Everything out of Trump’s mouth is a firehose of nonsense but he says it with such confidence that he’s going to win. While Biden is fumbling around trying to be accurate. I feel like I’m watching not only the death of democracy, but the death of reality.

Looks like the tech bros and the legacy media and the capital class are lining up behind Trump in 2024 in a way they didn’t do in 2020, imagining there would be consequences. What’s changed is not their opinion of Trump, but their opinion of Americans’ tolerance for corruption and authoritarianism.
