Wednesday I’m in conversation with @noahmedlock.bsky.social, author of the fabulous A BOTANICAL DAUGHTER! Please come join us if a queer horror tale about a pair of Victorian gentlemen dabbling in weird plants (and weirder science) is your thing!

Hugely enjoyed my E-ARC of @noahmedlock.bsky.social's upcoming A Botanical Daughter. If you ever thought Beatrice Rappaccini deserved more (and more plants!), if you like absent-minded mad scientists and queer love that may occasionally be murderous and fungal horror, you'll love this.

Thank you so much for saying! I love it when readers make the Hawthorne connection — his words are just magic to me 🌱

Ah thank you so much! I was blown away by your blurb—when I first sat down to write A Botanical Daughter I thought of it as Science Fiction and then gradually stopped emphasising that in pitches. But you articulated that classic mad science element so beautifully!

Absolutely—kind of a fan-term. That growing body of mushroom horror!

I attended a wonderful talk on Sporror, and was so thrilled to see A Botanical Daughter up there with her monstrous siblings!

My sainted mother just offered to buy me some “weird clothes for book events—I mean 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 clothes for book events”
(What she really means is 𝘨𝘢𝘺 clothes for 𝘨𝘢𝘺 events)

Oh! The 19th means that A Botanical Daughter will be out in 4 months exactly!
Both an age away and no time at all…

“Macabre and magnificent. Horrifying and hilarious. Oddly and unquestionably heart-warming. A delightfully gruesome and rather brilliant debut from Noah Medlock.”

I assume it will be, probably next month if Titan keep their schedule even (Briar Book if the Dead just went up and it comes out a month before Botanical Daughter)
But that’s just me reading smoke signals!
