I don't talk about IWTV here because I never see anyone else talking about it!! So I guess I'm adding to a vicious cycle lol. But if you haven't seen it and are curious, please allow @gavia.bsky.social & I to aggressively hard-sell a show I just saw (accurately) described as a "gay fever dream":

lyrics like "sexy confident/so intelligent" are ONLY permissable for europop. not famed californian nun-evictor katheryn hudson.

I was just exposed to a brief clip of a new katy perry track and I'm pretty sure it was written either by or for jenna maroney from 30 rock

the absolute temerity of Doctor Who airing an 8-episode season with a two-part finale featuring UNIT and a big mystery box supervillain... I can't be having with this.

Just noticed that Soundcloud didn't activate direct downloads on some recent Overinvested episodes, so for any Soundcloud listeners (?), I'm fixing that problem now!

i previously had v little interest in the outcome of the stanley cup finals, but ever since drake put $500k on the oilers, this whole situation has gained an effervescent frisson of schadenfreude

LOVED the insight into Armand's open-necked shirts as a symbol of his power & fearlessness because he's "the highest predator on the foodchain." Fascinated by the detail that Claudia's Baby Lu dress was designed to look like a 2D children's book illustration!

I wrote about The Acolyte's role as a cop show, complete with Jedi masters dropping crime TV vocab like "suspect" and "custody," and the idea of lightsabers as a law enforcement service weapon. www.gamesradar.com/entertainmen...

marvel's inability to make the new Blade movie is another dazzling example of hollywood malpractice. they announced mahershala ali's casting in 2019 and since then they've gone thru multiple creative teams/rewrites for what should be one of the simplest spinoffs to make ("cool guy fights vampires").

obvs Andor is still in a class of its own, but that's true when compared to TV dramas in general, not just the Star Wars franchise.

I'm so inured to being sent into a coma by Boba Fett etc that I was honestly astonished to see The Acolyte wrap up two key conflicts in the first two eps instead of drawing them out for a full tedious season.

The Acolyte is what all of the more family-friendly Star Wars TV shows should've been all along, ie. appealing sets and locations, characters with distinctive personalities, and a plot where multiple things happen per episode to propel an emotionally engaging story. THE BAR WAS SO LOW.
