In keeping with what is apparently Dragon Riders of the Styx Week, I just got the one “vehicle” I had when I was little: The Serpent Rider! It came with a gnarly-looking werewolf as the driver but he’s even harder to track down! That’s okay, the Devil Dude looks pretty cool and their colors match.

My doctor maintains that I should relax and the prognosis is very positive. The fact there are women in much scarier circumstances that are prioritized in scheduling tests shows my situation is far from grim. I can actually look at the lack of urgency by the hospital is a good sign.

Still waiting to set dates for mammogram and ultrasound (I mistakenly thought it was going to be a CT scan) I do have a second lump on the side of my breast but it is much smaller and also smooth and symmetrical (the lump, not necessarily my boob)

Breast cancer update: Met with my team today and I’m VERY lucky to have such a wonderful group behind me 💕 Aside from anemia my bloodwork is good. Blood pressure is high, but considering the circumstances that’s no surprise.

They’re hard to find nowadays, being somewhat rare even back in their day. Recently I picked up a lot of the action figures with some broken and missing limbs. Luckily I have a skilled husband with a 3D printer!

Dragon Riders of the Styx was a line of fantasy-themed 3-3/4 inch figures produced by Dimensions for Children in 1983. I remember having a few of these in my toy box and their strange, occult-looking demons and creatures stuck with me as very unique and cool.

It’s the week before 4th of July and I’m sure scheduling is taking a backseat to everyone trying to get through the holiday. I don’t want to be a bother to my team and I’m trying to remain chill and not worry my husband or family. But I crave a test that says “Look Monica, No Cancer! Have a Pizza!”

Spoke to my nurse and admin lead and they haven’t heard back from scheduling for my mammogram and CT scan. Everyone assures me I don’t need to worry until there’s definitively something to worry about. But not knowing is the biggest worry of all! Ack!

One more update. I'm anxiously awaiting calls to set all my appointments up. So when the phone rang and it was the hospital I was briefly relieved. Turns out it was the dietician calling to set up an appointment about the anemia and foods that cancer won't gobble up like Thanksgiving dinner.

They're still working on scheduling my mammogram, CT scan and biopsy so no news on that front. Hopefully next week, but with the holiday maybe the following week. To quote philosopher Thomas Petty "The wai-aiting is the hardest part."

The one downside is that I am very anemic for some reason. This CAN be a comorbidity to breast cancer, but not a guarantee. However I was also anemic as a baby so there is a history unrelated to cancer.

Update on my breast lump and my doctor's appointment earlier this week. My bloodwork is back and, unfortunately, nothing in that can really say whether or not I have cancer. They ran a huge battery of tests to check my overall health, which is surprisingly (to me, anyway) good

Right now I'm anxious to get all the imaging scans done and I think I'll feel less anxious once I hear back about dates and times. Every moment I'm not actively pushing forward gives me too much time to ruminate and worry. And I'm very good at worrying!

So….I have a lump on my breast. I had my first appointment today and scheduled a mammogram and a bunch of scans. Waiting to get bloodwork. Doctor feels there’s a good chance it’s benign or very very early.
