YW! Happy to give other recommendations, I tried to provide fantasy/mystery romances I enjoyed in the last year or so as you'd mentioned you liked Catholic detective and fantasy.
I also highly recommend the Stariel series by A.J. Lancaster, gas lamp fantasy, magic, queer. Excellent narration too

Not how I pictured it by Robin Lefler - RomCom, stranded on an island, Canadian!
A Rip Through Time by Kelley Armstrong - Victorian, time travel, early forensic science, slow slow slow burn
A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske - early 1920s ish, fantasy, MM, save the world mystery adventure

It's a very interesting question! Now that you've pointed it out I'll probably notice it more often. I don't think its more common in MM, it just caught my attention Subtle Blood, I didn't even notice it in R,W &RB. I don't track open/closed, so I don't have data to look back on π’

I enjoy the vagueness, my imagination can fill in any missing blanks. Sometimes when sex is described in detail, I get caught up in logistics, wondering if bodies can actually physically fit in that position, etc.

Oh, I've read a few that are open door without being explicit! Subtle blood, book #3 of the will darling series by K.J. Charles comes to mind (also MM romance), but I could be recalling incorrectly. I can't think of any MF examples off the top my head, but they're out there.

My review of book 5 in the Veronica Speedwell series, A MURDEROUS RELATION, is posted on Instagram. This time Jack the Ripper is running through Victorian London, and Veronica and Stoker are on the case. ππ

A sweet second chance romance. I really enjoy books set in the Second Industrial Revolution and appreciated the way it was emphasized in the story! ππ

Reading a long series really feels like making a close friend. I've been slowly working on the Virgil Flowers and Lucas Davenport series for about a year now, and picking up the next book is always a welcome experience.

Sometimes, if an audiobook isn't working for me but I think the book should be up my alley, I'll switch to reading with my eyes for the next book in a series, and I really enjoy it
That's exactly what happened with the Charles Lennox Mysteries

Absolutely! I also always over estimate how much time I'm going to be able to spend reading on a trip. It's vacation, so that means every minute is reading time, right?

Going on a long flight in a few weeks. Forget flight anxiety, I'm already worrying about not having the "right" books downloaded on my ereader or audiobook app.
I'm going to have more available than I could possibly read, but I'm not going to be in the right mood for any of them π
