I enjoyed giving a talk today @ IUFRO World Forest Congress in Stockholm (#IUFRO2024) about our lab's research on climate-induced changes in forest plant communities along elevation gradients of the eastern US. Looking forward to hopefully come back to the next World Congress in five years in Kenya!

Thanks! Some of the down-slope shifts of the lower range limits of the red spruce in NE US are likely due to the species returning to where it once was before logging hundred or so years ago.

But this is not the case of the upper tree lines.

Thanks! Not so much past land-use at the upper tree lines in NE US, although there was a lot of timber harvesting at lower elevations where temperate-boreal forest ecotone is.
