It's a question of doctrinal purity. Ideologies, especially ones that require faith to the doctrine, always start infighting. See the splintering of the UK Communist Party for a really thorough example of this.

The Popular Peoples' Front? 'E's over there. SPLITTER!! really uncomfortably bang on. i've been in, not Communist, but orthogonal "left" circles that are basically completely useless
