Probably the worst part of my life was when I was living in homeless shelter in 2019, experiencing unknown symptoms. I had both Medicaid and Medicare, on SSDI, but when I fell and went to the ER I waited for seven hours with no tests performed. Was dismissed with a diagnosis of “homeless.”

Hey, remember how librarians and I were warning everyone that mass book-banning is just step one of a fascist government takeover?
Well, some of the same book-banning orgs we warned you about are on the advisory board for Project 2025, whose leader calls it a "second American Revolution.”

GOH?
I'm just. Guh. SO cynical about so many not even just male (at least I never stanned Joanne or god forbid Marion Zimmer Bradley) creators whose work I REALLY imprinted on and was still enjoying.
there's a reason for #MeToo. It is and always has been a fucking epidemic.

No worries, I'm just scattershotting at the moment. I have people and places I can ask.

In the pursuit of disabusing them of this idea by hitting their wallet and changing the narrative, how'd you feel about an organized ad boycott of the old Grey Lady?

I mean, JKR is now well and truly established as a total (and hateful) crank, albeit still with a shitload of money and influence, so sure she's gonna do that shit.
Doesn't make it smart for most people to do that shit.

From my very surface perusing of the allegation, I unfortunately find it far more believably than not, -unless- they made the nanny affair, the quotes and all up out of whole cloth.
Him not suing is a stupid reason to presume guilt tho.
I'm just never surprised by this shit alas, TERF or no

@emilyatlast.bsky.social So, I looked for Sleeping Giants (the successful Fox ad boycotters) and it seems like their account is abandoned since last year. Know of anyone else doing/did that sort of work? I just don't have the experience and think un useful to try to reinvent the wheel.

I canceled WaPo, still haven't pulled the trigger on Guardian but can understand reasoning.

I'd much rather give the Trump child violent SA via Epstein story more daylight, but yeah at this point I think if you're not a hopeless crank you're not voting for this guy, really.
although he may have just alienated the cannibal faction.

Yeah. unfortunately looks like the original account went dark. although interestingly there is a SG France and a SG Brazil on here. alas I don't speak Portuguese or enough French to ask things, and in any case they've got their own shit to do.

Argh. Thanks for checking! Well, poop.
I'm wondering who else has this experience? I'm being all enthusiastic amateur and can be cheerleader, but I don't have this particular experience or skill and don't think it'd be helpful to try to reinvent the wheel if there are other interested drivers.

Garlic! awww.
I have a void. She is an adorable, timid, sleepy lump. She hides from everyone but me and the sitter, and is inexplicably umoved by boxes.

So, a quick search on here: there is Sleeping Giants France and also SG Brazil; of course they have their own journalism issues. I don't see the OG account here. I'm gonna go web spelunking.

Who's got a platform? Who's got a megaphone? Who's got experience doing this shit?
Come on, gang! Let's put on a boycott! We can use the old barn...

like I don't expect journalists, who need to eat, to take up pitchfork and torch against their own employer (though they've done so at MSNBC and WaPo recently as needed).
But the point=make this a story and change the narrative. Why is "our democracy is in danger" not the lede, all day every day?

I don't know the best idea of what to do with this situation, but, say, if this took off and then people pinged Chris Hayes on here

Not incidentally, there are real, serious journos posting right here on Blue Sky, (a couple of whom work for NYT & I respect, Jamelle Bouie and Paul Krugman). But also individuals who have at least taken a more measured approach to the hysteria.

Let's literally and figuratively cancel the NYT. Let's tell them to stop committing journalistic malpractice or wither on the vine.
Who were the folks who made dents in specific Fox pundit viability through coordinated ad boycotting? Are they still around?

So, I've been spitballing this idea. What if us plebs with a platform or talking to each other started that war?
NYT is not as deep pocketed as Murdoch, and I presume one goal here is to regain the clicks and dollars they got with Trump

Thanks for taking one for the team.
I really hope whatever the fuck the mincing court fops that pass themselves for serious journalism and the party elite say, he knows when to put his foot down. Reassure his capability, sure yep. He is not a performing monkey. He has a campaign to win.

I watched the interview so you don't have to. It was fine. Biden started fine and got a little better as it went on, George started fine and got a little worse as it went on. It won't change any minds about liking or not liking Biden, but he's clearly in fine mental health (with a stutter).

and yeah, gaslighting is exactly what's been happening: that's one of the several major food groups of any autocratic/abusive system.
Let's all try to keep each other sane. Two and two are four. Trump is a criminal, a fascist, and extremely dangerous, as are the people who put him in place.

So, I'm kind of a n00b at this shit, but spitballing this idea in hope of people who're interested and/or have done this kind of shit before:
targeted ad boycott of NYT. On the grounds of journalistic malpractice and effectively caping for the incoming autocracy. Change the narrative.

There's a week-long dedicated gaslighting effort by the biggest media organizations in America to convince you the sky is falling. Its ok to feel a little crazy.
