I didn't choose to be on this spectrum where I'm somehow both gay as fuck and asexual, but bigots will this a "lifestyle" choice and make arguments about it... and often turning them into person attacks. I grew up partly in Alabama. The shit I saw there turned me off religion for life.

Yep. My sister thinks I'm out of the will of God because I believed I was saved when I was young and am now doing something that she believes is sinful. I didn't choose it, I just am, despite what she believes.
