Same state is not an option due to the 12th amendment:
"The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves"

This is the reason Rubio and the other FL candidates are a non-stater as GOP VP. Although, there was talk Rubio would change his residency to get the slot .....
He's perfect for it as a Pomeranian - noisy & obsequious but really not a threat.
I wonder if Kamala could change her residency to be a different state, maybe Washington.
(Talking hypothetically, of course, I don't see this happening).
