I feel like that with cut footage and early versions. For every one you hear about that sounds amazing, there's a bunch that I am so very grateful it ended up the final version (like Frozen and The Incredibles)

For fruit it's a bit like if all very fluffy animals were "cats" and also cats are cats, but short hair cats aren't "cats". So you have people walking around meeming "The Abyssinian is a cat, not a mammal!" "Intl is knowing the Abyssinian is a cat, wis. is not buying it a brush for long fur!"

I grew up with "There's no such thing as talent, if you say you're working but you're not improving as fast or as good as your peers then you're LAZY and LYING." Turns out I have aphantasia and ADHD and some things are harder for me after all, and the "no such thing as talent" people lied.

I remember a piece by a guy who worked with contractors who would watch in horror "I'd never take a Trump contract" to "I'll just hear him out" to "Oh wow we had such a connection, I'm special to him, he's so great, I'm taking the contract." ... to "He won't pay, I'm ruined. I don't understand"

Yeah, by the third I was starting to see the same story roles different names and it's hard to keep a naive character going for too long but I still always read all three in a row every single time. (And it's not like Lackey where I sometimes pretend some don't exist, like the Joust Trilogy)

I put off finding a primary doctor for.... way too long. I finally did the legwork, went in for a well visit, got a scathing lecture on what an idiot I was to have taken so long. Did not make another appointment, procrastinating again and should really start looking again

I really really think English needs different words for "venomous but harmless to humans" "Venomous will generally cause some harmless redness/swelling" "Venomous will fuck up your day/week" "V will fuck up your life" "V can/will END your life" because the range makes the word almost useless

This year has been our first for a lot of common milkweed blooming all at once, and it's been a pollinator buffet! Bumblebees and carpenter bees and too many tiny bees to identify as well as butterflies (great spangled fritillary mostly) beetles and a monarch 'pillar!

Our neighbor has an automatic pasture gate on their driveway/road that beeps when it opens and closes. Now when a car pulls into a nearby driveway the mockingbirds chorus the same beeps at them because it's the car driveway sound.

The world is a sadder place today with a second bright little light gone. Thor (tabby) followed his sister Lady Loki (void) today far too soon because of cancer. We lost her to oral cancer in March, and now him to intestinal cancer. It's not fair.

Previous homeowners put down a lot of weed barrier plastic. First big garden task was to get rid of all of it and so many cicadas came up from the uncovered areas that summer. So we were just in time for them!

So far the list of creepy things found in the woods where I live are 1. Abandoned tent, not belonging to any neighbors 2. A bag of raw chicken??? Not fresh but only a day or two old. 3. Lost clothing including hunting jackets and overalls.

If it was a mall I'd probably chose the man, but bears are supposed to be in the woods. I really don't want to be shot for discovering his still/meth lab/pot field/unregistered deer processing spot/etc. People in the woods are often up to no good.

That one baffles me because snakes are pretty simple. Food, safety, explore, threat. We're not food, not safety, not really good to explore, as long as you don't decide to attack a snake you're extremely unlikely to become threat. And even then, most snakes would rather move away from you!

I think that was a good intentioned myth designed to keep people from handling/harassing wildlife for fun, since baby animals are so fragile. But it can lead people to not trying to reunite them with their proper caregivers.

Please forgive me, but do you have a source? I am anxious about a great many things, but none seem sexy at all! (There is a LOT of negative stuff out there about sex from various radfem/puritan sources that insist arousal comes from trauma, anxiety, abuse, etc. which is why it should be eliminated)

There are rescues that partner with US puppy mills to buy unsold stock. The good intention is the unsold stock would be culled otherwise so they're being saved, but the reality is it means the mills have a guaranteed market to keep upping production.

I used to live in town and the firetrucks went by about three times a day for false alarms. Now I'm much further out and I hear gunshots a few times a week and I assume it's coyotes or something after their chickens.

I have heard a big difference between rural living and city living is in the city sirens and lights is no big deal, gunshots is worry time. Rural it's the exact opposite. I hope things are ok there.
