This doesn't mean an author should repeatedly request purchasing, however, referencing book specifics is a great idea. Each of these options permits you to build your email list. Each of these options also permits purchase links or links to reviews. 2/2

Book promotion: How much is enough? Why should an author promote their book? Who will know about your book if you don't promote it? Your book won't make a bestseller list, be displayed on a retail shelf, shared in a library, etc., if you don't actively promote your book. 1/2
