Very close. A lot of regions have a smothered steak and onion - and they’re all delicious. I miss rice so much. Rice, potatoes or mofongo are perfect accompaniments for this.

In the simmer phase before thickening the gravy. To cut down on carbs I used shallots and green onions. Used a homemade sazon blend and did the sautee with bell pepper and celery. Cuba meets New Orleans.

One thing I do is raid the dented can/discount area of my grocery stores & along with their pantry staples, build a big box of non-perishable items. Then I give them out to those in need. You can also start a free neighborhood pantry. Doing that is far more meaningful than anything we do online.
