Agreed. It looks like a “both sides” effort at appearing politically unbiased, which helps only the worst party in any ideological split.

I think that read is wrong based on the politics of Los Angeles County. There’s a good political reason the guy who ran as statewide AG as a Republican two years says he is voting for and supporting Joe Biden this year and has never voted for Trump
