the best way to chill out about things is to stop assuming everyone else has good judgment and is doing things that make sense "oh but I'm an idiot! I'm a failure! I'm awful at decisions!" great news, about everyone! you're free! the NYT doesn't know shit, neither do we! all is chaos!

like at a certain point you do have to realize that not only are your friends proverbial lemmings, but so are tons of powerful people, and therefore people freaking out and doing things because of it is not a reason for you to freak out and do things
