Like, the first giveaway was that the quote was in extremely modern language. And the second giveaway was that it was a quote that was very much a process of begging the question, I'm still hunting for the words, but it was like pre-packaged to match a worldview and justify it post hoc.

I recently had the occasion to sit through a presentation where the speaker introduced their perspective on life by using a fake quote from Aristotle, and I have been struggling ever since to put together the words for how absolutely ironic it feels to see that.

Every time i’m back in the US i try to reconcile the doomerism with what i actually see regarding trump support and it’s a tiny fraction of the energy he had in 2016 or 2020. Like even the roadside ammo vendors were kind of hiding their trump stickers But.. dems and defeat from the jaws of victory
