Only because trump didn’t pardon them. Next time they try a coup, they can just pardon everyone.
The district will now be a lawless zone for anyone the president wants.

Would it really be a problem? Even if you don’t have savings, surely you have access to credit to float you.
Worse case you probably have a 401k that you can withdraw in an emergency?
Living paycheck to paycheck for middle class people is still way less risky than for low income folks.

The NYT sienna polls have consistently shown Biden leading among 2020 voters, and trump leading among people who didn’t vote in 2020.
How much of this youth polling is driven by non voting youth? Even if the polling is accurate, will they actually show up to vote?

Why wouldn’t you just look at the census data for these communities and identify the number of military members in the communities over each census dataset.
You can definitely get employment industry by place or tract and veteran status at least back to 1970 census.

Since 2014, the share of adults 25-35 living with their parents has been above 20%. Since 1850, the only other time adults lived with their parents at such a rate, was in the 1930s during the Great Depression.

A share of them might be under 22 and not old enough to vote then.

Yeah, an accurate graph would have always been high, or maybe even higher, and the impacts of communication across jurisdiction, etc would have slowly brought the numbers down.

It’s kind of funny that they think young people should give them workers subsidize senior retirements, but at the same time, do not want today’s tax payers to help subsidize the cost of raising those workers through childhood. If having babies is so important, help pay for it.

It’s important to remember that the NC state legislature passed a law last year to add seats to the UNC board, appointed by the legislature instead of the governor in a bid to seize control from Governor Cooper.

Obviously there is a history during the civil rights movement, but I was in college during the Obama years, and I can’t think of any frats doing stuff like this.

Has Trumpism made frat bros more overtly political? When I was in college, I never got the impression frat guys cared about anything like that. Sure they were racist, sexist, etc. But I don’t think I would have seen them show up for a protest like that. Is this some sort of Andrew Tate thing?

Didn’t they arrest people? Why can’t they say, we arrested x amount of people that aren’t students? Seems like they should have easy proof, unless it just isn’t true.

They have been around a lot longer than 2008. There is a whole Wikipedia article dedicated to them:

That’s the problem, dems had the house, the presidency, and 52 votes but were too scared to get rid of the filibuster. Most would blame manchin and sinema. But Biden didn’t support removing it either. Maybe manchin and sinemas tunes would have changed if Biden had come out strong for removing it.

After 2016 National dems were talking about $15 minimum wage, green new deal, abolish ice, Medicare for all. None of which they followed through on.
Of course Biden is governing to the left of Obama, but nowhere near to what was pushed by dems in 2017-2018.

That’s just because it’s easy to move left when you don’t have any actual power to enact anything. As soon as dems had a trifecta again, did they pass any of those leftist idea?
It’s the same way republicans talked for years about repeal Obamacare. And then suddenly they have power and they don’t

You can’t really say it’s the most in the world by comparing state level to country levels for everywhere else.
There might be states or similar tiered parts of a countries with higher rates.

1. Nowhere does that say how popular suvs are relative sedans.
2. The actual sales show sedans outsell SUVs.
3. The most popular SUVs are compact SUVs.
So your statement that there are no sedans in major cities, only oversized SUVs is bullshit.

And it’s trucks more so than oversized SUVs that are the big issue.
The top 3 cars by sales are always trucks. That’s what people are buying, not so much oversized SUVs.
Probably because the starting price of oversized SUVs is $60k-$100k.

I mean that’s just not true. The top sales lists always have plenty of non-oversized suvs/trucks.
Camrys, corollas, civics, teslas, accords, Subarus are always all in the top 25 lists of new car sales.
And even with SUV the compact suvs are all better sellers than oversized ones.

Yeah but turnout is always going to be low for an incumbent, and it was the middle of the pandemic.
But you know who had a competitive primary in 2020 and got more votes in Michigan in 2020 than trump in 2024? Biden by a couple hundred thousand.

What is with the attempts to pin actions by family on someone. A person is not responsible for their adult kids actions, and they aren’t responsible for their predecessors either.

It’s always extremely jarring when I accidentally end up on my Facebook ….is it still called newsfeed?.. page. As I haven’t actively used Facebook in over a decades, the intent slurry is this bizarre ghost feed of what it thinks me from 2012 would want to see. Also every other post is an ad.

Also the 6 newsletters thing is bs. Casey Newton said he wanted to know how substack would respond to literal nazi (as in hitler worshiping, swatstika wearing nazis) so he looked around and found 6 examples and sent them in. It wasn’t an exhaustive search that only turned up 6.

Are there really any better news organizations anyways?
I don’t want to subscribe to a bunch of substacks to get news. I want one broad source to subscribe to. Are any of the other large choices any better?
At least with NYTs I am hyper aware of their shortcomings by being on here.

Are the online courses larger? Are they expecting to get by with a higher student to faculty ratio if they shift to more online classes?
I wonder if schools will try to replicate their in person experience, or try to maximize students/minimize faculty. I imagine it will vary with school quality.

I work in real estate research & tracking in-person vs online, and the impact on student housing.
There is some really interesting movements. Georgia Tech has doubled their enrollment, but all growth is online only students.
For faculty I wonder how a more online world would impact their work?

That is interesting. I have been studying the in person enrollment differences across universities, and have found there is in fact a large divergence between universities, about a 1/3 have growing in person enrollments, 1/3 flat, and 1/3 declining.

Well even if a republican administration wouldn’t prosecute them, wouldn’t any future democrat admin be able to charge them.
Unless they were pardoned. Or they intended to never allow a democrat to win again.
