Then there's "fans love grim and gritty comics" or "fans love realism" or "fans hate thought balloons and sound effects." It's just infuriating. Publishers see the superficial details and jump to crazy conclusions.

It would be okay if they _also_ looked at the engines driving the hot stuff, tried to do both and saw which lasted. But this is perhaps a lot to ask.
