I can see both sides to categorizing Witchfinder General, it's kind of wearing horror trappings, but the majority (inc the Vincent Price fans, of which I'm one) has spoken. I didn't actually like it, to be honest, I think it's mostly a dull revenge story and Price is mostly on the sidelines.

I think Price’s own assessment is right: when he’s in WG, it’s one of the strongest performances of his career, and if Michael Reeves had handled directing differently, it could have been even better. There’s a lot I appreciate about WG, but WD&DB introduced me to the far more amazing Witchhammer.
