I let go of the idea that I can change or control what's happening, or even that I can accurately predict what's next or when all of this will end. I let go of blame. I like people. I accept we're mostly vicious and short-sighted as well as loving, tender, and kind, many of us at the same time.

My relationship to religion is an odd one. I was raised atheist and I sort of default to a worldview of atheism despite being nominally Christian now, but the one prayer that resonates with me is a prayer to god or the universe for mercy and forgiveness. "We know not what we do."
