The German word for meeting is "Sitzung", from the verb "sitzen". So, whereas in English meetings are there to meet others, in German, the purpose of a meeting is simply to sit there.

When you say "journal", what do you mean? Editorial teams of academics, who manage peer review for a given journal at a given point in time? Editorial houses who own a journal, such as OUP or Wiley? Production processes at a given journal ( which are often outsourced to third parties or even AI)?

Yes, it's annyoing if someone you work with misses deadlines and ghosts your messages. Still, their behaviour might be a symptom that they're overwhelmed, struggling with things you're unaware of, rather than unprofessionalism. Consider this possibility in your communication.

It all speaks for you! Being approachable & a good citizen is a great, smart quality! Make sure it works in your favour when saying no, point out everything you already do and the time you put in it, and suggest to ask someone who is not doing anything yet. (Name-dropping only if no repercussions)
