10 years of being involved in electoral politics, and I've heard that first hand from the people who do it. SE VA used to be blue as the sky is wide, and they turned their backs on blue because Dems came begging for votes but did nothing to help them when they won every single time.

More voters are willing to stay home than they are to support people who openly lie to voters about how if elected they're going to help their situation or their region, and then blame the party they didn't vote for as to why the elected couldn't be bothered to lift a finger. Bottom line.
